The Challenge

I am still alive. I am guessing that most of you figured that but I just wanted to make it clear.

I really meant to blog about my challenge to myself several weeks ago. However, my computer decided to stop working 2 weeks ago. After several hard days with no computer and seeing that my new computer wasn't going to even ship for 10-14 days, I decided to try a self-imposed "unplugged" few weeks. So the blog post I had planned in my head never happened.

The challenge I gave my self for the next few months is to mainly use my 50mm lens at an aperture of 1.8 to 2.2 (I say mainly because I knew there would need to be a few exceptions). I decided to do this so I can get better familiar with this lens and improve my ability to shoot at low apertures. Everything in photography takes practice and this is no exception. Wish me luck!

These were all shot at f/2.2 with shutter speeds around 1/1600.

I'm sure you'll get amazing pictures from your challenge--you always do! I've been having fun playing with this same lens as well.

This is just my style, bright and a little overexposed - always how I shoot! Beautiful job! Maybe I should give myself the challenge of working with higher aperatures? :)

Wow, love your photos! I've been thinking about getting a 50mm prime lens for my Nikon d80, but not sure if I can afford it...I think I may need to start saving my $$$ :)
