The Skiff

Yesterday, I checked the calender to make sure I am not in a fog and that it is indeed December. Yesterday, I also checked the thermometer to verify that it is cold (overnight lows in the teens.) However, yesterday, in spite of those important factors, THIS is all the snow we got.

It does occasionally happen that Utah does not have snow for Christmas. Yet, it has been a while since I remember this happening. I am getting nervous (if you can't tell). And, although I am always ready for the snow to be gone by March, I am equally anxious for there to be snow for Christmas. It just doesn't seem right without it.

So, today, I am celebrating the SKIFF of snow we received yesterday in hopes that there is much more to come in the next few weeks. Is anyone else as anxious as me?

By the way, it has mostly melted today. There is just a little bit left in the shady parts of the yard. The sun came out strong.

Please just wait until AFTER the 19th when we'll be driving to Utah... then it can snow all ya want!! (that is until the 29th when we have to head back home)

That's funny...we don't live too far from you and nothing stuck here yesterday! I'll take the skiff! I agree that we need snow for Christmas. Otherwise, it feels like we are just pretending that it's Christmas!!

I don't like driving in it either. I tend to be very anxious. Greg said Provo didn't have any stick, either. I think the only reason it did was because it fell later in the day. It didn't stick at first.

I have a "love/hate" relationship with snow. I love it when it's not my carpool week, I'm done with errands, and I'm home working on Christmas projects - nowhere to go. But, I HATE it when I have to drive anywhere beyond my neighborhood or SHOVEL it. It can wait until the kids are done with school. I should be done with my driving errands by then.

Love the new "winter" look. Beautiful photos. I am lens shopping, and I am dying for a macro. Did you use macro on these? I love the sharp crisp focus and the detail of the snow! And I'm with you...getting nervous that it'd better snow more soon!

Gayle - Thanks so much for your comment on Momshots!!! You had some super great points and have given me some ideas to think about. I love your point about exposing the skin correctly and haveing snow being slightly overexposed. More homework! Good think I enjoy it so much!!!

Thanks again,
Jessica
