When I was very young, I remember making many trips up to "The Canyon." I never know how to describe this place to others because I have never seen anything like it and am sure that I probably won't any time soon. It isn't far from my Grandparent's home up a small canyon. There isn't a home on the property or any other development, so it retains it's "up-in-the-mountains" feel. I remember lots of family reunions up there in the summer and lots of sledding trips in the winter. Over the years my Grandpa has made some "improvements" in the canyon for kids. There is a big zip-line cable that is big enough to be thrilling as a kid and as an adult make your stomach jump.
But most thrilling of all is this:
It's a huge motorized swing. I don't remember exactly how old I was when this appeared (okay, I am sure it didn't just "appear" but that is how I remember it growing up), but it has provided lots of fun for me and now for my kids over the years. It accommodates up to 12 kids or 6 adults. As the swing goes around, each of the individual swings can be spun. This isn't for the faint of heart or those who get motion sickness easily.
All this fun is courtesy of my Grandpa--a man of many talents. Thanks Grandpa!
